Hey! I’ve thought about starting a blog for a long time and now that I am on maternity leave and spending my days loving my little, squishy boy, it seems like the perfect time! Here’s a little story from my childhood to get us started…
When I was six years old I decided to start a company that would “save the world.” I’m not sure exactly what inspired this mission but I was pretty serious about it. Since my childhood nickname was Peanut (and still my adult nickname… please stop, Dad!), I named it the Peanut Company and I converted the closet of our playroom into the Peanut Company headquarters. In that office, I spent hours with my trusty Vice President, Honey Bear, scribbling on scrap paper, making business cards and you know… saving the world. My little 6 year old heart was determined that by those scribbles I could somehow save the world. Eventually the Peanut Company was dissolved as it became clear that those scribbles weren’t actually as effective as I had hoped. Thankfully, later on in life, I realized that my job was not to “save the world” when I encountered Jesus, who is actually the only One who saves. By His love and grace, I have been given a fresh start in my life and an opportunity to share this with the world… or maybe a couple of blog readers (hellooo, Peanut Company 2.0!!)
Anyways, when I decided to start this blog over twenty years later, the memory of the Peanut Company popped into my mind and I knew that I had found the name! Although I am no longer on a mission to “save the world” by my own strength, I do hope to share honestly and openly about what’s going on in my life as a new mama, a wife, and a believer. In doing so, maybe someone will be encouraged… and if not I’ll just ramble to myself because I’m pretty good at that.
